UTAH
    
Utah County in Utah consists of all the 19 cities on the west side of Traverse Mountain and runs from Lehi on the north, and is bordered on the east by the Wasatch Mountains and Mount Timpanogas, home of Timpanogas Cave, and on the west by Utah Lake and the Lake Mountains to the west side of the lake. The valley continues south to SantaquinUtah Lake is a fresh water lake and has a surface of 96,900 surface acres. It is the largest natural freshwater lake in the western United States. It is a shallow lake with a maximum depth of about 14 feet.The common carp and the white bass are the most numerous fish and the walley bass, channel catfish and the wide mouth bass are common as well. Utah Lake State Park is a popular destination for boating, sailing, water skiing, and fishing. Marinas for boat launching are in Provo at the Utah Lake State Park on the eastern shore and at Saratoga Springs, American Fork, Lindon and Lincoln Beach.
 
The 19 cities comprising Utah County are Alpine, American Fork, Cedar Hills, Eagle Mountain, Highland, Lehi, Lindon, Mapleton, Orem, Payson, Pleasant Grove, Provo, Payson, Salem, Santaquin, Saratoga Springs, Spanish Fork, Springville, Woodland Hills. In addition, there are  9 townships including Benjamin, Cedar Fort, Cedar Valley, Elberta, Elk Ridge, Fairfield, Goshen, Genola, and Vineyard.
 
Utah County has a population of 445,000 and the county seat is Provo, which is the largest city in the county. The elevation ranges from 4,487 feet above sea level at Utah Lake and 11,749 at the peak at the peak of Mount Timpanogos. About 88% of the residents are Mormon and the valley is nicknamed "Happy Valley".  Utah County is predominantly Republican.
 
Transportation
 
The busline, is named UTA  for Utah Transit Authority and runs from Provo north to Salt Lake  and to most ski resorts and shopping centers. It runs to BYU, Utan Valley State College. The TRAX light rail line will begin construction in late 2007 and is slated to be completed in April 2008.
 
Sundance is a four season resort and a popular Ski Resort. It is the only ski resort in Utah county and is owned by Robert Redford. It got its name from his role in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid .
 
Climate
 
The climate is much the same as Salt Lake County.  Snow in the winter, with temperatures between 5 degrees below zero to 100 degrees or slightly above. Average temperature during the summer is around 85  to 90 degrees.  Occasional rain during the rest of the year.  Much of Utah is a desert and water is very important to keeping the lawns and trees alive and green.

Recreation
There are many canyons and reservoirs surrounding the cities in Utah County which make for lots of recreational opportunities, biking, hunting, fishing, and hiking, camping, as well as Utah Lake and many man-made reservoirs which are popular for boating, and water skiing and camping, and fishing.

There are 12 Golf courses in Utah County. They include Alpine Country Club, Cascade Fairways Public Golf Course, East Bay Golf Course-Championship Course, East Bay Golf Course-Executive Course in Provo, Gladstan Golf Course in Elkridge Utah, Golf Course at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Hobblecreek Golf Course in Hobblecreek Canyon Springville, Riverside Country Club in Provo, Seven Peaks Golf Course in Provo, Spanish Oaks Golf Course in Spanish Fork,  the Tri-City Golf Course in American For, and the new Art Dye Golf Course in American Fork.
